The Little Mermaid Cake- St. Augustine Cake Decorator

This Little Mermaid cake was made for a sweet girl this past weekend who was celebrating her 4th birthday! We met her not long after she turned 1. Where does the time go?! It's a Yellow cake with Strawberry filling and a white butter cream icing blend. YUM!

Usually when I do a theme cake I use fondant. I *almost* managed to do this cake without fondant. But a few fondant sea items found their way on this cake ;)

Here we are. The Soto gang. Still have so much to learn but love how these photos turned out. Especially love that they are the first that I took of my family with my SLR camera. I have them printed and hanging in the house. Always print your pictures. Always.

We set the camera to auto, stopped a stranger and had her snap a photo of us. I guess it was a risk, but if she took off running with my camera we had our super fierce Pomeranian with us. He obviously would have chased her down.... then barked at her until her ears bleed, forcing her to return the camera. We lucked out and didn't have to chase anyone.
